San Jose State women’s soccer kicks off conference play as it welcomes Colorado College for a Monday night matchup at Spartan Soccer Field.
The Spartans (1-4-2) have faced the Tigers (4-2) once each season since 2014 and have come out on top in all of the games.
With only three goals all season, the Spartans continue to struggle offensively. Junior forward Jamilecxth Becerra and freshman defender Hannah Mathews are the only two players who have scored through seven games this season.
Although the team’s offense hasn’t lived up to expectations, its defense has been stellar. The goalies have combined for a .821 save percentage and have 32 saves on the season while not allowing more than two goals in a single game.
Senior midfielder Lauren Milliet leads the Tigers in points with seven and is tied for first in goals and assists.
Along with a solid offense, sophomore Jade Odom has spent all of the time in CC’s goal and holds a .98 goals-against average with an .800 save percentage.
Over the last three seasons, the Spartans have taken home a win in their first conference games of the season and they look to keep the streak going Friday night.
Kick off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
