In its worst start since 2013, the San Jose State women’s soccer team hopes to turn it around as they welcome UC Davis to finish off their three-game homestand Sunday afternoon.
The Spartans (0-3-2) last faced the Aggies (3-3-1) in the 2014 season when they came up on the losing end of a 1-0 game.
Since head coach Lauren Hanson joined the team in 2014, the Spartans haven’t gone longer than two games to snag their first win. Five games into the 2018 season and the win column remains empty.
SJSU’s offense continues to struggle as junior forward Jamilecxth Becerra holds the only two goals scored this season for the team.
The defense has not been one of the holes as goalkeepers Paige Simoneau and Kara Burns hold a combined .824 save percentage with 28 saves in the goal.
Aggie sophomore forward Alicia Sloss leads the team in goals with two. The UC Davis offense has been collaborative as five other players each possess a single goal each.
Junior defender Kristen Amarikwa will visit her older brother, Quincy Amarikwa’s alma mater. Quincy now plays in the Major League Soccer league for Montreal Impact.
The ball will start rolling at 1 p.m. at the Spartan Soccer Field.
