Red-hot San Jose State baseball travels to San Luis Obispo to face Cal Poly for a non-conference matchup Wednesday night.

The Spartans (21-24, 11-12 MW) faced the Mustangs (21-25, 8-7 BW) earlier this season at home and took away a 7-4 win.

Riding a two-game and four-series win-streak, the Spartans have climbed four spots in the Mountain West standings and are currently tied for third place.

Sophomore right hander Josh Zanger (1-2) will make his fourth start of the season. He holds a 6.56 ERA with 15 strikeouts over 23.1 innings pitched.

The offense has impacted the team’s recent success. Over the last 16 games, SJSU has gone 11-5 and have averaged a little over six runs per game.

The team is on its best 16-game stretch since they joined the Mountain West in 2013.

Over the weekend, the Spartans took on the Rebels and took two out of the three games to knock them out of the No. 3 spot.

The Mustangs came off of a series win against Hawai’i over the weekend and sits in second place in the Big West.

SJSU has won its last two road series against UNLV and UC Riverside. The Mustangs have performed well at home all season posting a 13-9 record.

The two teams will face off Wednesday night at 6 p.m. at Baggett Stadium.
