After San Jose State’s baseball took one of three games against Nevada over the weekend, the team gears up to face Santa Clara for the second time this season on Tuesday.
Earlier this year, the Spartans (11-19, MW 4-10) took a 4-1 loss against the Broncos (15-14) at Municipal Stadium.
Over the last six seasons, SJSU has won two of its six non-conference games against SCU with a sweep in 2017.
The Broncos are ahead in the all-time series 132-89.
After redshirting last season, senior Brett Bautista will go into Tuesday’s game leading the Spartans with 37 hits and a .385 batting average.
SJSU ranks No. 4 in the nation in double plays with 37 through 30 games.
Players to keep tabs on are senior Shane Timmons and sophomore Kellen Strahm.
Timmons has the most RBIs on the team with 26 to go along with his 30 hits. Strahm meanwhile, currently has a .329 batting average.
While the Spartans will be entering the game with a win, the Broncos will enter with a three-game losing streak as they fell to BYU over the weekend.
First pitch at Stephen Schott Stadium in Santa Clara is set for 6 p.m.
