San Jose State beach volleyball couldn’t upset No. 20 Saint Mary’s and it was swept 5-0 Thursday afternoon in Moraga, Calif.

SJSU was unable to win a set, losing all five 2-0 against the Gaels (12-7).

The Spartans (7-10) have yet to win a game on the road this season.

The No. 4 pair, sophomores Laura Parts and Kaitlynn Zdroik, faced Gaels junior Lindsey Calvin and freshman Kelsey Knudsen.

They fought the hardest in their match with the closest score of the day, 21-19, 21-19.

The No. 2 pair, Junior Julia Golbeck and senior Ciara Reistad, had a tough time matching up against Gaels juniors Emily Bible and Lindsey Knudsen, falling 21-13 twice.

For the fifth season with beach volleyball as a sport, the team remains winless against Saint Mary’s.

The Spartans have three more opportunities to win a road game this season against Santa Clara, Pacific and Cal poly.

SJSU’s next match will be at Santa Clara University on Saturday as it takes on the Broncos at 9 a.m., followed by the University of San Francisco at noon.
