San Jose State women’s tennis concluded its trip in Southern California with a 4-0 loss against University of San Diego Wednesday afternoon.

Freshmen doubles pair Jackie Wagner and Laura Malsert was the only doubles win of the day for the Spartans (10-5). The duo won 6-3 over Toreros’ (8-7) Gemma Garcia and Carolin Nonmacher.

“We came up short in the doubles point today coming down to the No. 2 spot,” said head coach Chad Skorupka. “University of San Diego outplayed us in singles.”

Singles weren’t any better for the Spartans.

It was a tough singles loss for former undefeated freshman Savannah Sendar. She lost 7-5, 6-3 to Garcia to put an end to her 10-match winning streak.

Garcia’s win over Sendar marks her seventh consecutive singles win.

Juniors Miyo Kobayashi and Malsert also lost their singles matches 6-2,6-2 and 6-3, 6-3 leaving the last three singles matches unfinished.

The team will next face UNLV Sunday at 10 a.m.
