Beach Volleyball squeezes past USF

San Jose State’s beach volleyball heads to spring break on a winning note after defeating the University of San Francisco Friday afternoon in Santa Cruz, 3-2.

With the victory, the Spartans improve to 7-9 on the season, while the Dons dip to 2-7.

Graduate student Lyndi Scholl paired up with senior Nandyala Gama defeated the Dons No. 1 couple with by a continuous set score of  21-19, 21-15.

In the third pairing, junior Luiza Andrade and senior Breann Robinson squeezed past the the Dons’ third team in three sets.

In the fifth spot, sophomore Thaliana Grajeda and senior Jamie Hirai took care of Pi’kea Clemens and Shannon Levinson 26-24, 21-19.

In exhibition play, Spartan senior Summer Avery and freshman Ryann Thomison handled USF’s Trish Koutsoukos and Emily Zinger 21-9, 21-8.  

With seven matches remaining in the season, all in NorCal and all in April, the Spartans will rest up this week to prepare for next month, as it serves up once again April 5 versus Saint Mary’s.
