Aurin homers and tosses complete game shutout in win over Broncos

Madison Aurin held Boise State’s fifth-ranked offense to four hits in San Jose State’s 2-0 victory at Dona Larsen Park.

The Spartans (20-9, 4-0 MW) earned their 10th-straight win against the Broncos since 2014 (18-9, 3-1 MW) to remain undefeated in conference play.

The first hit and run for SJSU came in the bottom of the third inning from sophomore second baseman Cassidy Clark. Her single to left center gave the Spartans a 1-0 lead.

In the fourth, Aurin made it 2-0 SJSU with a solo homer to center. The junior has hit a HR in three-straight games and has four dingers in her last three games.

The two runs were enough for the Spartans as they went on to win 2-0. Freshman third baseman Rayohna Sagapolu contributed two of the five hits.

Junior shortstop Rebekah Cervantes led the BSU offense with two hits.

Aurin (8-7) continued her dominance in the circle as she tossed her sixth complete game and third shutout of the year.

Sophomore Kelsey Broadus recorded six strikeouts in her complete game for the Broncos, but earned her fourth loss of the season.

Due to Sunday’s predicted forecast, the Spartans will conclude the series tomorrow in doubleheader fashion.

The first game starts at 12 p.m. with the second and final game following shortly after.
