Chan continues to shine, but Bruins flirt with perfection

By Ajah Yee (@ajah_yee ):

Sophomore Taylor Chan set her all around career-high at 39.125 and tied her career high of 9.9 on both floor and vault routines, but the Spartans fell below the 195 mark for the first time in a month Tuesday night in a dual meet with at UCLA.

The No. 3 Bruins scored a 198.275 while the Spartans scored a 194.850.

Although Chan shined in for the Spartans, it was no where close to the PAC-12 powerhouse.

Chan had the highest floor score for the Spartans but that didn’t come close to Bruin Katelyn Ohashi’s perfect 10.000, stealing the show on UCLA’s senior day.

On the other hand, Freshman Madilyn Probst didn’t do so well as she scored the lowest in bars with an 8.850 causing the Spartans to score lower than their average with 48.325 rotation.

The Bruins stole every event with a team total of 49 across the board setting a new season high from 198.075, while the Spartans scored 48 keeping them at a 48 season average.

SJSU will compete in the MPSF Championship against Air Force, Alaska Anchorage, Sacramento State, Seattle Pacific and UC Davis on March 24 at 5 p.m.
