Women’s golf finishes eighth of 16 in Meadow tournament

The San Jose State women’s golf team finished in the middle of the pack after two days of 36 holes at the Meadow Club Women’s Collegiate golf tournament.

Hosted by both University of San Francisco and San Jose State, the 16-team tournament was located just north of San Francisco in Fairfax.  

After the first day, the Spartans found themselves tied for ninth place with Boston College and UC Berkeley all with a score of +14.

Junior Abegail Arevalo shot a one under par with a total of 71 and placed tied for 24th out of 80 total golfers. This was just one round of many where she has found herself under par.  

During the second and final day of play, junior Alexandra Cooper shot a three under par for a total of 69, placing tied for 10th overall. The Spartans finished +21 and eighth place at the end of the final round.  

Washington won the tournament 8 stokes ahead of second-place San Francisco at five under par.  

The Spartans will head to Tucson, Ariz. the weekend before spring break to compete in the Mountainview Intercollegiate Tournament.
