After a victorious weekend in Portland and winners of six of seven, the San Jose State women’s tennis team (7-2) will take on Cal Poly at the Spartan Tennis Complex Sunday afternoon.
Last season in San Luis Obispo, the Spartans swept the courts against the Mustangs (3-6) with a 4-0 non-conference win.
Freshmen Savannah Sendar will be going into the match undefeated in singles matches this season.
Senior Sybille Gauvain and junior Miyo Kobayashi only have one loss in singles. In addition, both players also hold a strong doubles record at 7-2.
While the lineup for Sunday’s match is not confirmed yet, last match Kobayashi and freshman Laura Malsert were a doubles team for the first time defeating their opponents with a 6-0 bagel.
On the other hand, senior Molly Reed leads the Mustangs with five singles wins, followed by freshman Grace Olyphant with four. Their leading doubles team is Olyphant and junior Caroline Williams, with a record of 5-4.
Sunday’s match will be the tenth match of the season which marks the halfway point until the Mountain West Championships.
First serve, beginning with doubles, begins at 12 p.m.
