San Jose State baseball invites cross-town rival Santa Clara University to Municipal Stadium tonight to play one game, their fifth game of the season.
Last season, the Spartans (2-2) won both games they played against the Broncos (1-2).
The Spartans are coming off a splitting a four-game series against Northern Colorado.
Junior Luke Martin-Resnick will take the mound for the Broncos. Martin-Resnick made his first start of the season in the second game for SCU against Boston College and pitched three innings giving up three earned runs off seven hits.
The Spartan starter has not yet been announced.
SCU senior Jake Brodt became the seventh player in Division I history to hit two grand slams in the same inning at home Jan. 18 against Boston College.
Lookout for Shane Timmons as he continues to climb SJSU’s all-time home run leaderboard by hitting number 19 in a Spartan uniform over the weekend vs NCU. In the number one spot is John Fagan with 25 home runs, set almost two decades ago.
The first pitch will be thrown out at 5 p.m. Tuesday night at Muni.
