It will have to be with a strong offense, but San Jose State women’s basketball looks to take on No. 1 Wyoming in the Event Center Saturday.
The teams faced off last month, but the Cowgirls (17-7, 10-3 MW) came out ahead of the Spartans (3-10, 6-18 MW), 58-46 in a defensive battle and look for this one to be similar.
Although SJSU found a way to keep the offense strong in its last game Wednesday night against Fresno State, they struggled to finish in the fourth quarter.
Senior guard Myzhanique Ladd and sophomore guard Taylor Turney both stepped out of their slump in Fresno by scoring a combined total of 40 points.
The Spartans need to watch out for the Cowgirls who had four players score double digits against them back in January.
Senior Liv Roberts leads the Cowgirls with scoring on average 13.8 points a game and is coming off an 18-point game with six rebounds.
Sophomore Taylor Rusk averages a total of 8.9 points a night and Bailee Cotton follows close behind, averaging 8.5 points.
In the team’s last match up, the Spartans had 10 more fouls than the Cowgirls. The Cowgirls are a 76 percent team from the charity strike so limiting the whistles would help the Spartans tremendously.
SJSU will need to find a way to keep their game strong for all four quarters to keep up with the Cowgirl’s high-scoring offense.
Tipoff in San Jose is scheduled for 2 p.m.
