San Jose State’s women’s track and field team split up to represent at the Air Force Invitational and University of Washington  Invitational.

The distance runners were able to debut for the first time at the University of Washington on Saturday while the jumpers competed at Air Force on Friday and Saturday.

During day one at Air Force, the Spartans lined up for the 60-meter dash, 60-meter hurdles, high jump and long jump. SJSU placed second with 22 points in the second day of the meet.

Sophomore Destiny Longmire jumped from placing seventh in the semifinals of the 60-meter to finishing third in the finals.

Senior Cambree Harbaugh achieved a new personal record of 6.09 meters in the long jump. She finished second in the finals with Longmire in fourth.

The biggest highlight of the Air Force meet was the triple jump. Senior Nicole Iloanya finished first with a mark of 12.69 meters in her first event in two years and teammate Cambree Harbaugh finished not-too-far behind at 11.88 meters.

The Spartans finished tied for fourth of eight teams at the end of the Colorado Springs invitational.

The runners at the UW were to face a lot more teams with over 25 programs participating. SJSU had members in the 200-meter dash, 1-mile, 3000 meters and 4×4 relay.

Freshman, Sarahvaughn King, finished the 200m dash in 9th with a time of 25.02, less than two seconds behind the first place runner from Washington.

Freshman Kai Bohannon was the only Spartan who placed in the 1-mile as she finished 35th with a time of 4:59. Not a bad opener for the first time collegiate competitor.

The team took 14th out of 21 in the 4×4 relay with a time of 3:59.54, which was 11 seconds behind the leader.

SJSU has two weeks to prepare for their next meet in New Mexico.
