San Jose State punter Michael Carrizosa and cornerback Andre Chachere will showcase themselves in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl today which will be broadcasted by FS1 from Rose Bowl Stadium at 1 p.m. PT.
With 112 prospects from large and small schools making up the National and American teams, Carrizosa and Chachere will represent the National team while sporting a Spartan helmet.
247Sports.com’s Josh Edwards listed Chachere as a player to watch with expectations of him being responsible for the back end of the defense. Edwards also said he is a Day Three projection (rounds 4-7).
Chachere, a three-year starter for SJSU, started in 32 games at cornerback. The 2016 first-team All-Mountain West selection finished his career with seven interceptions and 27 pass break-ups.
Carrizosa on the other hand was named to the 2017 second-team All-Mountain West and was second-team All-American and Ray Guy Award finalist in 2015.
According to SJSU Athletics, he became the school’s first punter to finish in the top-20 nationally in three seasons and in the top-five nationally in punting also three times while leading the program in punting average (44.0/per punt) and punting yardage (9,907 yards).
Isaiah Irving and Jimmy Pruitt are past Spartans to be featured in the all-star game.
The all-star game, now in its seventh year, gives draft-eligible prospects a leg up on impressing scouts.
Additionally, leading up to the “premier postseason all-star game” according to the game’s official website, a week full of practices with NFL players who have a desire of coaching and workshops to prepare for the professional world are held.
