Saturday marks last game for twelve Spartan seniors

For a dozen San Jose State Spartans Saturday, that’s it. One last game wearing the blue and gold. Although it’s been a season to forget, head coach Brent Brennan wants it to be a day to remember.

Nico Aimonetti, Michael Carrizosa, Andre Chachere, Chris Gonzalez, Jermaine Kelly, Jeremiah Kolone, David Martinez, Maurice McKnight, Brandon Mitchell, Keoni Taylor and Nate Velichko will all play their final game against Wyoming

The season finale at home will be just the second time the Spartans play in front of their fans since mid-October, but Brennan sees it as a blessing, especially for his senior class and their families.

“I’m excited for them to have their last game at Spartan [CEFCU] Stadium,” said Brennan. “It’s a memorable moment for everybody, and it’s one of those times in your life where you’re like wow, this is it.”

To senior cornerback Andre Chachere, his whole time at SJSU was a breeze.

“It went so fast,” Chachere said. “I feel like I just got here the other day.”

Chachere also took to Twitter to express his mid-week feelings before his final college football game.

“Saturday is my last football game as a collegiate athlete. #TimeFlies,” Chachere posted on Wednesday.

For his brother behind him, safety Maurice Mcknight will also be on the turf one last time Saturday. McKnight, along with Chachere, both played their first seasons as freshmen during the 2014 season, but it will come to an end against the Cowboys.

“That’s my brother,”McKnight said about Chachere. “We’re going to be lifelong friends. After this week, we’re still going to be close.”

McKnight also didn’t shy away from sharing his thoughts on social media this week.

“Make sure y’all come out and support us this Saturday last home game last game as a Spartan show love no matter what,” McKnight wrote on Twitter on Tuesday.

McKnight, Chachere and the other posse of seniors don’t expect a one-win 2017 farewell season, which is why they will be fired up come Saturday, the same way they would any other.

San Jose State is expected to honor each of its twelve seniors prior to Saturday’s contest against Wyoming.
