The San Jose State club hockey team returns home this weekend for a face off against three teams in three days.
The Spartans (2-12-2) will first take on the Weber State Wildcats (6-6-1) on Friday night. Then on Saturday night the team will take on the San Diego State Aztecs (9-0-1) followed by the Santa Rosa Junior College Polar Bears (2-6-0) on Sunday.
After coming off of a tough weekend of losses in Southern California, SJSU will need to utilize its home ice advantage to start getting more points in the win column.
The two Spartans to watch out for are forwards Jared Anstett and Etinosa Obaseki. Ansett continues to lead the team in points with nine goals and six assists while Obaseki is in second with seven goals and one assist.
For Friday’s game, Weber State has two strong forwards in Brian Martinez with six goals and 10 assists and Troy Quarnberg with seven goals and eight assists. The team overall is relatively average in rankings with the same amount of wins and losses.
Then on Saturday, the Spartans will have a tough matchup against the Aztecs. San Diego State has had a strong season so far with a 0.95 win percentage versus SJSU with a 0.188 win percentage.
When it comes to the Aztecs’ players, forwards Hayden Bolls and Aaron Mayer are the ones leading the team. Bolls has nine goals and 11 assists so far this season while Mayer has seven goals and nine assists.
Finally the Spartans will take on the Polar Bears on Sunday afternoon. With only two wins under its belt as well, the team should be a relatively even match for SJSU.
With five goals and 10 assists, defenseman David Lundgren from Santa Rosa Junior College is one to watch. Another strong player from the team is forward Auston Ghirardelli with five goals and nine assists.
All games this weekend are at Sharks Ice with a 7:30 p.m. puck drop on Friday, 7 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m on Sunday.
