The Spartans (12-7, 4-4 MW) are returning home to play at Spartan Gym, where they are going to stay for the rest of October. Instead of its normal Thursday and Saturday games, the team will be playing Tuesday and Thursday against the University of Nevada, Reno (5-15, 3-5 MW) and Air Force (10-12, 3-5 MW).
San Jose State went up against No. 21 Colorado last weekend, but was swept for the first of both games. After being losing on the road last weekend, home court could be the advantage that the Spartans have been looking for.
SJSU started against UNR to open conference play in the middle of September and fell to the Wolfpack 3-1. The Spartans came back and defeated Air Force 3-2 for their first conference play win.
Since the teams have last played each other, the Spartans have risen to take third in the Mountain West conference. The Wolfpack has since fallen and is currently in last place. They will be coming to San Jose hoping to break their three-game losing streak.
Air Force was in last place in the conference a few weeks ago, but is now in seventh thanks in part to its two-game win streak that the Falcons will be looking to extend against the Spartans.
After battling the University of Wyoming for second place in the Mountain West conference last weekend and falling to third, taking on UNR and Air Force is the opportunity for redemption that the Spartans need.
The matches in Spartan Gym this week will begin on Tuesday at 6 p.m. against UNR, followed by Air Force Thursday at 6 p.m.
