San Jose State women’s golf finished second at the Mountain West Championship held at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, California, closing the three-round event as one of the top programs in the field of 10 teams.

The Spartans posted a team total of 880 strokes (+16), finishing just two shots behind champion Rebels, which won the title at 878 (+14) after consistent rounds of 292, 294 and 292.

UNLV carded rounds of 292-294-292, while SJSU opened with 291, followed with a 298 in the second round and closed strong with another 291 in the final round.

Leading the Spartans was freshman Kleopatra Kozakiewicz, who delivered a 219 (+3) performance, highlighted by a brilliant final-round 69 (-3) that helped her tie for eighth individually.

Freshman Regina Roldan  finished tied for eighth at 219 (+3), producing rounds of 76, 71 (-1), and 72 (even) to provide steady scoring support across the lineup.

With this runner-up finish, the Spartans  built momentum heading into the NCAA Regionals on May 11, where they will look to continue their strong postseason form.

Across the tournament, SJSU demonstrated depth and resilience, particularly with a strong final-round scoring that nearly closed the gap on UNLV.

The performance at Rancho Mirage reinforces the Spartans’ standing as a top contender in the conference and sets an encouraging tone for the upcoming NCAA postseason challenge.

SJSU will now turn its focus to preparation and course scouting ahead of regionals on May 11th with hopes of advancing to nationals.
