In San Jose State’s 86-69 win over the University of San Diego, it was all sunshine and rainbows for redshirt sophomore guard Adrian Myers.

In only his second game back from injury, and coming off the bench, Myers had the best game of his career.

He finished the game with 20 points, eight rebounds and one steal, all of which are newly set career-highs.

Myers particularly was on fire during the first half, going 5-for-6 shooting and going 3-for-3 from downtown for 13 points and was a monster on the glass, but he was very close to being denied his opportunity to get hot early.

“Adrian goes in and has two bad turnovers, and I’m mad,” SJSU head coach Tim Miles said. “So I send somebody to sub in for him, then he goes and hits a three, gets a layup then another layup, that’s seven points while he’s got a sub and I’m sitting there saying I can’t take him out now.”

Myers talked about how changing up his game a little bit is what helped him with his shooting percentages during the game.

“I just think playing inside out was really helping me with my shot,” Myers said. “I usually try to force threes first before getting to the basket. This time I was getting to the basket then my threes were following after.”

Despite the career game, Miles said there are still improvements to be made for Myers moving forward.

“He’s got to get better at ball handling, he’s got to get better at defense and rebounding and all those things. But when it comes to his ability to score the ball, he’s pretty tough that way,” Miles said.

SJSU will face Cal State Long Beach at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Provident Credit Union Event Center in San Jose, Calif.
