San Jose State swim and dive made its presence felt at the 2025 Phil Hansel Invitational in Houston across three days of competition.
The Spartans finished with four top 10 individual finishes.
Junior Vilma Lindberg led the charge for SJSU, finishing fifth in the 200 breaststroke with her season best, 2:14:23.
The relay squads were a highlight of the meet as the Spartans 400 freestyle relay team of junior Mya Azzopardi, freshmen Lillie Grover, sophomore Keira Vail and freshmen Nikki Lahey finished sixth with a time of 3:21:81, which is the eighth fastest time in SJSU history.
Freshman Genevieve George anchored the Spartans’ backstroke group with a 2:03.11 in the 200-yard backstroke, a performance that kept the Spartans competitive across multiple events.
George also recorded the third-fastest time in school history in the 400 IM with a time of 4:17:83.
The Spartans left Houston with strong times, growing confidence and the momentum that will carry them into the back half of the season ready to chase even bigger results.
“Really happy with the direction of the program right now, we’re excited to get back at it,” SJSU head coach Sage Hopkins said.
SJSU’s next meet will be early next year at 1 p.m. on Jan. 9, 2026 at Cal State East Bay.
