A revolutionary grant has been given to the Spartans golf team as entrepreneur and philosopher Malin Giddings donates the $2 million.
This is a donation to help establish the “Malin Giddings Women’s Golf Excellence Fund,” which helps provide scholarships for women’s golfers.
“We are incredibly grateful to Malin for her extraordinary generosity,” Director of SJSU Athletics Jeff Konya said via a press release. “Her commitment to women’s golf and belief in the power of education and sports will continue to keep our program competing at the highest level.”
Giddings, a passionate golfer, has invested in women’s golf based on her beliefs towards the impact sports can have to shape the lives of many young women.
“Supporting women in sports has always been close to my heart,” Giddings said. “This donation is my way of giving back to the community and ensuring these young women have the resources they need to thrive.”
The donation is game breaking for the golf team, creating new opportunities for both current and future student-athletes. It also brings a step forward to providing new and improved resources to fully ensure that they have the utilities they need moving forward.
