San Jose State women’s tennis (3-0) is off to great start this season winning its third game in a row defeating UC Davis (1-5) on the road 4-0.
The victory was a team effort as the Spartans came out swinging, winning all three of their doubles matches.
“(I’m) very happy (and) very pleased with this huge road win against UC Davis,” SJSU head coach Chad Skorupka said in a video posted to SJSU Athletics.
Not only did Spartan sophomore Cheuk Ying Shek get the first doubles win of the match with help from senior partner Carla Urchoeguia, she refused to let up, winning her singles matchup against Aggie sophomore Mika Ikemori, ultimately sealing the win for the Spartans.
SJSU also got production from sophomore Duru Durgun, who defeated grad student Solia Valentine in back to back sets.
Also coming in with two consecutive singles set victories was Spartan freshman Soledad Fayos Capilla, who won her match up against freshman Penelope Wong.
With this win the Spartans remain undefeated and continue to play like a well oiled machine.
They intend to keep this machine going as they are scheduled to host the University of the Pacific at noon on Wednesday looking to get four consecutive wins.
