San Jose State (9-15, 2-9 MW) women’s basketball suffered a 78-54 loss against Air Force (14-9, 4-7 MW).

The night consisted of shooting woes for the Spartans, as they shot 35.6% from the field and 15.8% from beyond the arc.

After an even first quarter at 21 a piece, SJSU would score a combined 17 points in the second and third quarter.

Turnovers were also a large factor in its loss, committing three times as many compared to Air Force at 21-7.

Senior guard Amiah Simmons and junior forward Finau Tonga led the way for the Spartans.

Simmons led the team in scoring with 18 points and tallied up three steals. Tonga posted a double-double with 14 points and a career-high 14 rebounds.

“We just need to go back and hopefully we can get healthy,” said head coach April Phillips. “But with anything, we have to stay steadfast, stay at the process and this is when character is revealed.”
