SJSU women’s tennis concludes fall season with wins in singles and doubles

San Jose State women’s tennis concluded its fall season at the CSUN Fall Invitational in Northridge, Calif. that started Friday and ended Sunday.

It was a successful three days for the Spartans.

In the first day of action, senior Olaya Bances Iglesias and sophomore Cheuk Ying Shek led the day for the Spartans as they won matches in both singles and doubles.

“Good day overall, only losing two matches,” SJSU head coach Chad Skorupka said in a video posted to the SJSU Athletics website on Friday. “Good showing we fought well supporting each other.”

SJSU beat Minnesota in three out of four matches in singles and beat Loyola Marymount in all three singles matches.

SJSU beat Idaho in two out of three matches in doubles.

In the second day of action Saturday, Bances Iglesias won matches in both singles and doubles for the second consecutive day.

SJSU beat Minnesota for the second consecutive day in singles, doing so in five out of eight matches.

SJSU lost to Cal State Northridge in two out of three matches in doubles.

In the final day of action Sunday, SJSU sophomore Duru Durgun led the way as she won matches in both singles and doubles.

SJSU beat Idaho in five out of six matches in singles.

SJSU beat Minnesota in two out of three matches in doubles.

SJSU is back in action at 9:30 a.m. Jan. 21 on the road against UC Riverside.
