San Jose State men’s golf finished eighth place out of 21 teams in the Ka’anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational at Lahaina, Hawaii held on Nov. 1-3.
Through all three rounds, the Spartans maintained consistency throughout. They hit 10-under par or better in two of the three rounds.
“After four tournaments, our team score is 100 under par,” SJSU head coach John Kennaday said. “You got to love getting in the triple digits under par for a whole semester.”
SJSU junior Jed Dy paved the way for the Spartans, who was tied for 24th place out of 123 golfers. He opened up his tournament with a strong first round, hitting 5-under par. The final two rounds he hit 2-under par combined.
A slightly different sequence occurred for SJSU junior Ivan Barahona. He shot a +1 in round one, but finished the last two rounds hitting 6-under par. He was tied for 35th, along with his teammate, sophomore Keshav Mungali.
He had a very strong first and third round, hitting -8. His second round would push his score and ranking back, also scoring a -5.
“We’re excited about what we’ve done this fall and we’re really looking forward to the spring.” Kennaday said.
SJSU wraps up its fall season, as the Spartans set their eyes for the spring season. They’re scheduled to play in the Southwestern Collegiate from Jan. 27-29, 2025 at Westlake Village, Cali.
