The winless streak extended to five games as San Jose State men’s soccer (1-3-3) suffered a 4-0 loss Monday on the road against the University of San Francisco (1-5-2).

Despite outshooting the Dons 16-13, the Spartans were unable to put the ball in the net and got outshot 6-4 on goals.

“Full credit to [USF], they came out, high pressured us and deserved to win,” SJSU head coach Simon Tobin said in a video posted to the SJSU Athletics website.

SJSU has failed to score more than one goal in seven of its eight games this season.

Junior midfielder Angel Iniguez had five shots, three of which were on goal, leading the team.

The game was closer than the score indicated as the Spartans trailed 1-0 going into the 65th minute. The Dons scored three goals to put the game out of reach and took a 4-0 lead in the 78th minute.

Iniguez and sophomore midfielder Angel Fernandez were the only two Spartans in the game with at least one shot on goal.

Junior goalkeeper Edgar Guerra had two saves in the game.

SJSU will look to end its five-game winless streak Friday at home against UC Davis. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. and will be the Spartans’ final game before starting conference play.
