San Jose State tennis (13-7, 4-5 MW) had a comeback victory Wednesday defeating Boise State (8-12, 4-6 MW) 4-3 to advance to the next round of the Mountain West Tournament.
The Spartans came back from a 3-0 deficit to the Broncos by winning four straight singles matches.
“Amazing comeback win we were down 3-love to Boise State and came back. Complete team effort,” SJSU head coach Chad Skorupka said.
The Broncos took the doubles point and two singles matches it wasn’t enough.
Senior Carolina Millan won her singles match, winning 4-6, 6-2, 6-1.
Senior Irena Muradyan won both her matches with a score of 7-5, 7-5 and clinching another point for the team.
Senior Rozalina Youseva would give the Spartans their third point of the day winning 7-5, 6-4.
Freshman Duru Durgun had the pressure on her back as she was the last game in singles. The game would go to a third set deciding who will move on with the score being tied 3-3. She handled the pressure well and had a comfortable third set win 6-2.
Durgun would complete the comeback in the third set by a score of 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 giving the Spartans the victory and a pass to the next round.
The Spartans look to face number one seed New Mexico Thursday morning at 10 a.m. at Darling Tennis Center in Las Vegas, Nev.
