San Jose State hosted its pro day Friday to give the players the opportunity to show of their intangibles to NFL scouts.

The former Spartans got to work out in front of representatives from the San Francisco 49ers, Detroit Lions, Denver Broncos, Las Vegas Raiders, Arizona Cardinals, Green Bay Packers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Jets, Jacksonville Jaguars, Washington Commanders, Philadelphia Eagles and the CFL’s Saskatchewan Roughriders.

“It was fun, a dream come true,” running back Kairee Robinson said. “I’ve been watching the combine and pro days since I was a little kid, I was just so grateful to have this opportunity.”

Robinson is coming off a season where he put up career-highs all across the board including 18 touchdowns, 1,194 yards and exactly 7 yards per carry.

Robinson also scored a touchdown in 11 straight games in 2023 which was an SJSU record. Robinson’s 20 total touchdowns in 2023 was also a single season Spartan record.

His 36 total career touchdowns is also tied for most all time in SJSU history.

Quarterback Chevan Cordeiro got to take to the grass at CEFCU stadium one last time as he participated in the throwing drills. Cordeiro took time to reflect on his playing career at SJSU.

“I came here from Hawaii where I didn’t really like football,’ Cordeiro said. “Playing here was the best time of my life, I’m always going to love San Jose.”

Cordeiro is coming off two excellent years with the Spartans where he threw for over 20 touchdowns and less than seven interceptions in both seasons.

Robinson and Cordeiro’s play have got them noticed as they have been invited to participate in the 49er’s annual pro day for local talent.

Safety Tre Jenkins was overall satisfied with the performance he put on the field for the scouts outside of one area.

“My numbers in the vertical and broad were pretty great. My 40, I wish I had another one,” Jenkins said. “I’m still glad I got to go out there and show what I could do.”

A total of 11 Spartans participated in the pro day and got to say goodbye to their collegiate playing days while hopefully opening a door to their future playing career.

Special teams participants were punter Alex Weir and long snapper Andrew Gonneville. Offensive and Defensive lineman participants were Jaime Navarro, Matthew Tago and Jay Kakiva.

The defensive secondary participants were Tre Jenkins along with his brother Andrew Jenkins, Chase Williams and Kenyon Reed.

“2020 Mountain West COVID championship is my favorite memory,” Tre Jenkins said. “It was just one of those turning moments where we became a program that’s more competitive.”
