San Jose State Gymnastics falls short in Boise

San Jose State Gymnastics finished second Friday night in a competition that fielded four teams, Boise State (host), Air Force and West Chester, at the ExtraMile Arena in Boise.

The Spartans 195.625 score was only -.175 behind the Broncos’ 195.800 winning score.

SJSU’s score was the highest overall this season and the 19th highest score in program history according to San Jose State Gymnastics social media.

Leading the Spartans was freshman Mia Nelson, who scored a 9.925 on the floor, winning that competition.

The next first place finish of the night was Jaudai Lopes, who tied with a 9.900 in vault.

Senior Lauren Macpherson finished second in all-around with 39.000.

The Spartans will return home for their next competition at 2 p.m. on Jan. 28 at the Provident Credit Union Event Center.

They will face off against Sacramento State for the second time this year. The Spartans previously beat the Hornets 194.950-194.025 on Jan. 14 at The Nest in Sacramento.
