SJSU women’s volleyball will end their season against San Diego State on Nov.16, as they look to snap their six-game losing streak.

The Spartans (12-18, 3-14 MW) continued their losing streak with a loss against UNLV on Nov. 14th.

Heading into that match UNLV (9-18, 4-12 MW) was also on a losing skid, as they had lost to Fresno State, Wyoming, and Colorado State.

Senior Letizia Cammillucci had a high number of 11 kills against the Rebels but also committed five errors with a 0.429 hitting percentage. Redshirt Freshman Nayeli Ti’a did not contribute to the match effectively with a negative hitting percentage of -0.231 and three errors. Junior Brooke Bryant had a lower hitting percentage 0.091 and contributed only three kills.

However, the black-and-yellow managed to catch up through kills and taking advantage of UNLV’s errors.

Taking the lead again the Rebels made successful challenges that affected the score and ultimately won the set 25-21.

Moving on to the second set, UNLV dominated with strong kills and effective blocking. San Jose State struggled with attack errors, and the Rebels took advantage of the mistakes. The set ended with UNLV securing a score of 25-14.

UNLV made a slight adjustment to the lineup in the third set bringing freshman Caleigh King into the match. The Spartans faced challenges with attack errors and UNLV’s impressive serving.

UNLV continued to take advantage of SJSU’s mistakes and dominated the set. Despite a few service errors from the Azects, they secured the set and the match with a score of 25-18.

SJSU lost against the Rebels for a multitude of reasons which resulted in a conclusive 3-0 victory.

On Thursday we’ll see if SJSU women’s volleyball can bounce back on senior night as they take on SDSU.
