SJSU women’s volleyball will take on Utah State on Nov. 9 after recent losses.

The Spartans (12-15, 3-11 MW) are currently on a three-game losing streak after losing close matches to Nevada, Colorado State and Wyoming.

Meanwhile, the Aggies (21-5, 14-1 MW) have recently been on a strong run with their 11-game winning streak.

The team’s performance this season heavily relies on these volleyball athletes on SJSU’s roster.

Senior Lauren Conroy was unable to score any points for the team during the Mountain West match against Wyoming and had limited time. Junior Alyssa Bjork had a challenging game with a negative attack percentage of -0.667 and only scored 0.5 points. Freshman Selin Ozdemir has an attack percentage of 0.000 and scored 6.5 points, which indicates some challenges in her offensive performance. Freshman Jade Middleborn was not able to score many points but contributed with one block and one dig.

In its last match, SJSU fell to Wyoming 3-1. In the first set, Wyoming took the lead early with a score of 2-0. There were lead changes and tight score margins throughout the set. Ultimately, Wyoming won the first set with a score of 29-27.

In the second set, Wyoming took the lead again with a 5-1 lead and continued to dominate, maintaining a lead throughout the set. Winning the second set with 29-27.

Finally managing to win the third set, the Spartans scored 29-27. Wyoming took control early in the fourth set, building a lead once again winning the fourth set with a score of 29-27, securing the match victory.

Even though the Spartans won in the third set, Wyoming took the lead in most sets scoring the points early to secure a win, making it hard for the Spartans to bounce back in any other set.

The Spartans should look to bounce back in its next match against the Aggies considering there are three final matches this season.

SJSU women’s volleyball takes on Utah State at the Wayne Estes Center on Nov. 9 at 6 p.m.
