SJSU women’s volleyball will take on Colorado State on Thursday after its recent loss against Nevada.

The Spartans (12-13, 3-9 MW) are back on a losing streak with their match against the Wolfpack 3-2.

Meanwhile, the Rams (13-10, 7-5 MW) started a winning streak with their recent win against Boise State 3-0.

The outstanding players on SJSU’s roster are crucial to the team’s performance this season.

Redshirt freshman Nayeli Ti’a and junior Brooke Slusser both secured double-doubles for the second time in a row in the Nevada Mountain West match. Freshman Selin Ozdemir scored a career-best 10 kills.

SJSU has a history of success against Colorado State. Last year, the Spartans secured a 3-2 victory in their previous meeting. This could provide the Spartans with a competitive advantage in their upcoming match.

In its last match, SJSU fell to Nevada 2-3. In the first set of the match between the Spartans and the Nevada Wolf Pack, both had successful kills, attack errors, and service errors, with the score fluctuating as SJSU took an early 2-1 lead.

While Nevada tied it at 3-3, and both teams continued to trade points until SJSU eventually secured a 25-20 victory.

In the second set, both the Spartans and the Nevada Wolfpack started strong. Nevada’s Gabby McLaughlin opened with a kill, and San Jose State’s Selin Ozdemir responded with a kill. Ultimately winning the second set.

SJSU fought back in the third set with strong attacks, fewer errors and a service ace by Ti’a Nayeli.

Nevada recording 15 team blocks, significantly outperformed SJSU’s 5 blocks, which limited the Spartan’s offensive opportunities and contributed to their defeat.

The Spartans should look to bounce back in its next match against the Rams considering they have limited games left in the year.

SJSU women’s volleyball will take on Colorado State on Thursday, Nov. 2 at 6 p.m. at home.
