SJSU men’s water polo (5-6) played from behind all game and couldn’t capture the lead in a 16-12 loss to Air Force (14-9).

The Spartans started off the game trailing 5-1 but, they were able to bring the game to 6-8 with a score from junior utility player Laszlo Szieben with 4 minutes left in the second period. This was the second of Szieben’s team leading four goals on the game.

Szieben only missed one shot all game, converting four of five shots.

This was the closest SJSU kept it on the game as Air Force never relinquished their grip on the lead.

Air Force dominated SJSU in power play, shooting 6 of 11 while SJSU only shot 3 of 16 during their time in power play.

SJSU shot just 18.08% during power play which limited its scoring and gave a strong advantage to Air Force.

SJSU had two players with two goals, sophomore driver Niki Matheisen and sophomore driver Mateja Bosic.

Bosic played a strong game all around. He racked up two steals and had two assists.

SJSU’s next competition will come on October 20th, during the Julian Fraizer Memorial Tournament in Santa Clara. The Spartans will play Fordham at 10:00am and Princeton at 4:40pm on Day 1.
