The San Jose State University’s men’s and women’s cross-country teams both finished 12th at the San Francisco State Invitational in Golden Gate Park.

The Spartans returned to San Francisco for the first time since the USF Invitational.

The SJSU women’s team competed first against 15 teams, scoring a total of 295 points with an average running time of 28:33.

SJSU freshman Amanda Chalburg had a standout performance and led the team, finishing 25th overall and coming in at a time of 23:19.

Following seconds behind was SJSU sophomore Constance O’Neal who secured the 30th overall spot with a time of 23:33.

The SJSU men’s team competed against 16 teams, scoring 285 points with an average running time of 27:34.

SJSU junior Michael Chadwick set the pace for the team, finishing 40th overall with a time of 26:39.

SJSU freshman Alexander Walker followed closely behind with a time of 26:46, finishing 45th overall.

This invitational served as an opportunity for the team to see the areas that they needed to improve on, especially with the Mountain West Conference Championship three weeks away.

The next competition for the SJSU cross-country team will be on October 14th at the Bronco Invitational hosted by Santa Clara University at 8:45 a.m.
