The SJSU men’s soccer team (1-2-2) lost in a 3-1 defeat at Saint Mary’s College on Friday night, kicking off a two-game losing streak.
Saint Mary’s men’s soccer team (3-1-1) kicked off the game and two minutes later, midfielder Storm Hollensted scored the game’s first goal.
SJSU sophomore Niklas Dossman, brought the game to a tie at the five-minute mark with a left corner kick assisted by senior Josh Redfield and sophomore Angel Iniguez. This was Dossman’s first goal in his SJSU soccer career.
An attempted shot was made at 7:31 by SMC Wade Muttitt but was saved by SJSU’s senior goalkeeper David Sweeney.
The last goal of the first half was made by SMC’s Storm Hollensted, bringing the score to 2-1.
At the beginning of the second half, SJSU tried to close the gap with a shot made by defender sophomore Josh Lucas at the 81-minute mark.
Saint Mary’s forward Riley Lynch made a goal less than a minute later, bringing the score to 3-1, the final score after 90 minutes of action.
The SJSU men’s soccer team has their next match against the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California on September 13th at 7:00 p.m.
