San Jose State volleyball is undefeated at home and has three games left in the season. With two of them being at home and first place on the line, they have the advantage.

After a nine-game win streak to begin conference play, they were finally outclassed losing back-to-back games against UNLV and Air Force. The loss to the Rebels was the first road loss for the Spartans since they were defeated by USC back in Sept.

SJSU’s final two home matchups are against Fresno State and San Diego State which are two squads they have faced off against earlier in the season.

Against the Bulldogs, SJSU won the match 3-2. The Spartans led in almost every category against Fresno State including kills, assists, and points.

While facing the Aztecs, SJSU dominated and went on to win to secure the 3-1 win. The Spartans also won in every statistical category against SDSU and have the potential to do the same next match.

The Spartans have 1,307 kills this season compared to their opponents’ with 997 kills. SJSU also averages 14.1 kills per set to 11.1 all of their opponents combined. According to the Mountain West website, Amethyst Harper currently leads the team with 310 kills. SDSU and Fresno State’s highest leader for kills has barely reached 200.

SJSU has the ability to pull itself together once it gets down in a set by stringing kills together, shifting the momentum back into its favor. The Spartans don’t give up because they know the ultimate goal is to capture the Mountain West championship.

The Spartans lead in overall assists over all of their opponents, 1221 to 948. Mia Schafer and Carly Aigner-Swesey have combined for 1037 of those assists alone.

The blue-and-gold have the best offense in the Mountain West. Other teams should worry about facing the Spartans at home, given their outstanding record.

SJSU is in second place in the conference, but anything can happen in these last couple of games. Right now they are primed to finish the season strong and stay undefeated at home.
