SJSU men’s golf has a rough finish in Washington

The SJSU men’s golf team had a rough two-day outing at the Husky Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, taking ninth out of 15 teams at Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Wash. 

Day 1

Senior Caleb Shetler was one of the top performers for the Spartans on day one. Shetler shot 144 (E) and was tied for 9th in team-individual scores.

After a strong outing at the Gene Miranda Invitational, senior Kotaro Murata and sophomore Zubair Firdaus were in the plus column as Murata shot 223 (+7) and Firdaus shot 224 (+8). Both finished outside the top 20. 

At the end of day two, the Spartans were 12th on the leaderboards.

Day 2 

SJSU bounced back on day two, but it wasn’t enough. 

Shetler shot 217 (+1) and finished the Husky Invitational tied for eighth place while freshman Alaric Mercie de Soultrait recorded a score of 215 (+2).

The Spartans had a total score of 890 (+26) which placed them ninth among the 15 participating teams.

Up next, SJSU men’s golf will compete at the Alister Mackenzie Invitational in Sonoma, Calif. where they will face Cal on Oct. 10-11.
