UNLV beat SJSU two out of three games in their three-game series.
The first game resulted in a loss for the Spartans, 5-0. SJSU came back to the second game with a win, 3-2. The final game of the series resulted in a second loss for SJSU, 2-0.
Head coach Tammy Lohmann emphasized having to continue making adjustments through the past three games and the upcoming ones.
“You can’t have a pitcher beat you twice in one weekend,” said Coach Lohmann.
For the final game, it was tough to tell in the early innings who would win.
With a different game plan and adjustments made, SJSU could only shout encouragement to their teammates.
“Just a lot of encouragement from my teammates and just knowing that they believed in me really helped me,” said senior Jenessa Ullegue.
The Rebels started with an early lead, 1-0, during the first inning. The Spartans had a chance to catch up until the sixth inning where the Rebels once again scored, 2-0.
Coach Lohmann focused on having the team “change their mindset” as the win was secured by UNLV.
The end of the game was nearing and it resulted with the Rebels taking the second win, 2-0.
The Spartans will continue to make adjustments to keep them going. “Just realizing as a team, what we need to tune up and fix up before we go to Boise this weekend,” said junior Trenity Edwards.
The Spartans head to Idaho to play against Boise State for their next three-game series. The first game will be on Friday at 2 p.m.
