San Jose State men’s basketball (8-21, 1-16 MW) looks to close out the regular season strong against Utah State (16-14, 7-10 MW) at home Friday.
The Spartans are set to clash against their Mountain West foes, the Aggies. The last time SJSU went up against Utah State was on Feb. 2, where they fell 78-62.
It’s no secret that the Spartans have been bedeviled by Mountain West conference games this season. They’re a dismal 1-16 in conference play. Their only conference win came against New Mexico. Going into the matchup versus Utah State, the Spartans have one crucial statistic in their favor.
The Spartans hold a respectable 7-8 record at home compared to an abysmal 1-13 record on the road. The Aggies’ season can also be depicted as a tale of two stories. Utah State holds a solid record of 9-6 at home and a measly 3-7 record on the road.
The storyline in this matchup lies within the road and away splits for both teams. The Spartans certainly feel more comfortable playing on their own hardwood and as a result, could catch the Aggies off guard. If both teams play like their home and away splits, we can expect a close and competitive game.
Myron Amey Jr. and Omari Moore are the duo that have been leading the way for the Spartans as of late. If they are able to perpetuate their stellar play, it can help propel the Spartans.
SJSU will have it’s Senior Night and will look to finish it’s 2021-22 regular season with a bang. Tip off is at 8 p.m. and can be watched on FS1.
