San Jose State women’s basketball (4-23, 1-5 MW) has reached its final games, ending its home schedule against the University of New Mexico Lobos (22-8, 13-4 MW) Friday night.
The Spartans are back from a missed opportunity to end its six-game losing streak against the Air Force Falcons Wednesday morning, 68-59.
Though the team did not come out victorious, SJSU’s star senior forward Cyndi Lewis made SJSU history. Lewis became the 18th Spartan to join the 1,000 point club. Lewis also had her fifth double-double of the season with 17 points, 13 rebounds, three blocks and four assists.
Senior guard A’Tyanna Gaulden also dominated the Event Center with 16 points and five rebounds. This was Gaulden’s third highest scoring output of the season.
The UNM Lobos just faced off against the Fresno State Bulldogs, losing 71-70.
This surprising loss fell down to the Lobos not being able to get the ball through the hoop after the Bulldog’s final layup of the night.
The Spartans will need to keep their defense up on UNM’s senior guard Antonia Anderson as she came out on top with 20 points, eight rebounds and four blocks. Just in the first 20 minutes of the game Anderson managed to lead with 18 points, six rebounds and three blocks.
SJSU will be honoring its seniors with a Senior Night and celebrating Pride during Friday night’s game at 6 p.m. at the Provident Credit Union Event Center.
