San Jose State women’s basketball (3-16, 0-8 MW) continues its home stay and welcomes the Boise State Broncos (7-12, 3-5 MW) Saturday afternoon.
The Spartans are coming off a heart-wrenching loss against the Utah State Aggies 63-61.
With 0.6 seconds on the clock SJSU’s foul gave USU the chance to end the game. Utah State missed the second free throw, but hit a buzzer-beater as time expired to seal the victory.
Junior guard Ella Ogier led her teammates with 17 points, three rebounds, two steals, and one assist. This was Ogier’s sixth-straight game scoring double figures.
SJSU’s star senior forward Cyndi Lewis finally gained her flair back and lit the court on fire. Cyndi scored 16 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, and one steal. This was Lewis’ third double double of the season.
The game against the Aggies definitely was the match that lit the Spartans’ up. This was the push they needed in order to gain their confidence and momentum back to lead them into their future games.
SJSU will be going head-to-head with the Boise State Broncos in its Alumni game this weekend.
The Broncos just lost against the Wyoming Cowgirls Wednesday evening 61-47.
BSU found itself short when it came to its offensive game but ultimately led the game until the second half where Wyoming took the lead and won.
Boise State is led by senior guard Dominique Leonidas, who is averaging 11 points per game.
The Spartans are a resilient group who have not let a 13-game loss discourage their confidence for a win during their last roundup of games this MW season.
If anything SJSU is hungrier than ever to win against the Broncos and with its alumni and fans in the stands the Spartans may just have the strength to finally break its losing-streak.
You can watch the Spartans try and rein the Broncos at the Provident Credit Union Event Center Saturday at 1 p.m.
