San Jose State women’s basketball (3-15, 0-7 MW) is back from the road to welcome the Utah State Aggies (6-12, 1-7 MW) Thursday evening after a devastating loss against New Mexico

The Spartans found themselves swept away when playing the Lobos, the game ending 87-57.

To be fair, UNM is at the top of its game right now with winning their eighth consecutive game and with the Spartans’ current record, the odds were leaning more in the Lobos favor during Monday’s game.

Nonetheless, junior guard Ella Ogier led SJSU for her third straight game. Ogier recorded her fifth consecutive game in double figures with 13 points. She was 5-9 shooting, five rebounds, one steal, and one assist.

Senior guard A’Tyanna Gaulden followed behind Ogier with eight points, two rebounds, and one steal.

SJSU will now be hosting the Utah State Aggies Thursday night during its Alumni night.

The Aggies could be the team the Spartans break their 12-game losing streak with. USU is 6-12 in the MW and just recently broke its own long losing streak of nine games against the Wyoming Cowgirls.

From a statistical standpoint USU does have the advantage compared to SJSU. The Spartans average only 59.5 points per game compared to the Aggies’ 67.2 per game, Spartans’ 33.7 rebound average to Aggies’ 38.3, and Spartans’ 11.8 assists average with Aggies’ 13.1.

If the Spartans can gain the confidence from their alum and power through their plays they can be the team that ends up on top and finally break their prolonged losing streak.

You can watch SJSU and USU go head-to-head at the Provident Credit Union Event Center on the SJSU campus on Thursday at 6 p.m.
