First games get washed to Stockton

By Taylor Lupetti:

Rain wasn’t the only thing dropping this last weekend as Spartans dropped the ball against the UCLA Bruins Sunday with a 10-1 finish. While there was hope for a chance to salvage the final game of the series, the next day, rain washed away any hopes of that as the game was canceled and SJSU remained 0-2.

This weekend, the Spartans are taking on Northern Colorado and Brigham Young University, playing two two-game series’ in the same weekend.

The last time the Spartans faced Northern Colorado was in February 22, 2015 when they won three out of four games in the weekend tournament. This will be the first time SJSU and BYU have matched up in seven years, when the Spartans took 2 of 3 games at Municipal Stadium.

The Spartans are starting and closing the weekend against BYU with two NCU games in between.

Both BYU and Northern Colorado started their seasons last weekend and both finished 1-2. Starting on the mound Friday will again be  be junior Josh Nashed. In addition, Nashed has been the designated hitter two seasons running.

With waist-high murky water flooding the streets of San Jose this week, all of this weekends games were moved to Stockton..
