San Jose State baseball has suspended the start of its 2021 season until March, the team announced Monday.

The team — which was 5-12 before the season was canceled because of the pandemic — was scheduled to begin its conference schedule Feb. 27 against Fresno State.

“Being a student-athlete and competing at the highest level are privileges that we recognize,” said SJSU AD Marie Tuite in the announcement. “During the COVID-19 pandemic, SJSU Athletics is asking every student-athlete to strictly adhere to all health and safety guidelines.”

In late January, SJSU put all baseball activities on pause because of COVID issues.

According to their announcement the Spartans plan to begin the season on Mar. 27 against San Diego State.
