Volleyball game against Boise State pushed back a day

San Jose State volleyball’s season opener against Boise State has been moved to Thursday, the team announced today.

The schedule was adjusted because of last week’s announcement from Santa Clara County re-allowing contact sports.

Both games of the Spartans’ two-game series against the Broncos were originally scheduled to be played in Belmont, Calif.

But the adjustment allows the second game to be played in SJSU’s Spartan Hall, the first true home game for the school since contact sports were prohibited in November.

Wednesday’s game was supposed to be the Spartans’ first game of their spring season, moved from the fall because of COVID-19. It also was supposed to be their first game under new head coach Trent Kersten, who came to San Jose from Texas Christian University last year.

Thursday’s game will still be played at 11 a.m. PT, but Friday’s game will be played at 1 p.m. PT.
