SJSU’s scenarios of making Mountain West Championship

By Jacob Lee — Reporter

With this year’s chaotic football season wrapping up San Jose State (5-0) has an extremely high chance of being the No. 1 seed for the Mountain West Championship game.

RedditCFB tweeted a chart that had SJSU as the No. 1 seed in the championship game in 7 out of the 9 possible scenarios.

If SJSU beats Nevada (6-1) on Friday then the Spartans will be the No. 1 seed in the championship picture.

SJSU is the slight favorite to win this game at -2.5 odds.

If the SJSU vs. Nevada game is canceled and if the Boise State (4-0) vs. Wyoming (2-3)  game is canceled, the Spartans will appear in the championship game.

This leaves two possible outcomes where SJSU does not make the Mountain West championship game.

Both scenarios involve Nevada beating SJSU on Friday.

If Nevada betters SJSU on Friday, and the Boise vs. Wyoming game is cancelled the Spartans will miss out on the Mountain West playoffs.

SJSU will also be denied a Mountain West championship opportunity if they lose to Nevada and Boise beats Nevada.

Boise is the favorite in this game at -11.5 odds.

But, Wyoming is able to upset Boise on Saturday, SJSU will still make a championship game appearance.

With such a crazy season this final week of conference play is going to be entertaining as the three best teams in the conference jockey for a shot at the Mountain West championship game, scheduled for Dec. 19.
