61-point gap puts SJSU swim on a win streak in head-to-head meets

Spartan swim has been quite busy in the new year as it competed in two meets in San Diego this past weekend.

San Jose State got its second head-to-head meet victory of the season against UC San Diego.

The 94-33 win was a nice refresher as the team did not perform well the day before in the pentathlon hosted by San Diego State.

The five-event meet on Friday was a struggle for the Spartans. The top finisher from San Jose State was senior Kate Hanf, who finish seventh.

Sophomore Chloe Limargo was the only other Spartan to make the top-10. SDSU completely dominated the pentathlon taking the top six placings.

Other competitors in Friday’s meet consisted of Air Force, Incarnate Word and University of San Diego.

It was a completely different story on Saturday as the Spartans racked up 12 first place finishers.

The 200-yard event was by far the strongest for SJSU as it took the top four placings.

Hanf managed to get two first-place finishes. UCSD did not stand a chance as it was only able to come out on top in five events, all of which were followed by a Spartan who was less than a second behind.

The one-day meet is a big confidence booster as SJSU has a little less than two weeks before it takes on UC Davis on Jan. 17.

The two Spartan divers will be competing in the Bruin Invitational that same weekend at UCLA.
