San Jose State head football coach Brent Brennan has agreed to a contract extension to remain at the University, per a SJSU Athletics press release.
The length and compensation of the extension are still unknown. Brennan just completed year three of his initial five-year deal.
The extension will be formally announced Friday at noon at a press conference at the Simpkins Stadium Center Gold Room on SJSU’s south campus.
University President Mary Papazian will be attendance along with Brennan and athletic director Marie Tuite.
Brennan is 8-29 as head coach of the Spartans and is coming off a season in which the team defied expectations and finished 5-7, just short of bowl eligibility.
He was hired on Dec. 7, 2017 and led the team to just two wins in his first year, followed by a 1-11 sophomore season.
Brennan was born and raised in nearby Redwood City and was a wideout at UCLA from 1993-1994.
He has previously expressed interest in remaining at SJSU for the foreseeable future. Now, it seems as though he will.
