Any San Jose State athletics pitch should always begin with the fact that the school is located in the heart of the Silicon Valley.
According to one of the school’s web pages, SJSU is a primary source of engineering, science and business graduates from the world’s technology hotbed.
A great education at a place that gives endless networking opportunities while still offering D-1 football is almost too good of an opportunity to pass up.
The NCAA reports that only about 1.5% of all college football athletes make it to the NFL meaning that for anyone that does not end up in an SEC, Big 12 or ACC football program the likelihood of not getting drafted is even lower so it would be wise to end up in a place that can set you up with a stable future.
SJSU has one of the less renowned D-1 programs but has had players/coaches such as NFL Hall of Fame head coach Bill Walsh, Super Bowl champion wide reciever James Jones along with quarterback Jeff Garcia don a Spartan uniform.
Spartan games have are also annually on ESPN or CBS networks and according to the the football database, SJSU has had 5 players drafted in the last four years.
The pitch for SJSU football should be simple.
Players that don a Spartan uniform have the privilege of playing D-1 football in the 10th largest city in the country while receiving an education in the epicenter of technology.
